The trade paperback of all 5 Hidden Empire issues is due for release July 4th 2023. Doctor Aphra 30 was released April 12th 2023, DA 31 was released May 3rd 2023, the trade paperback collection for DA is due for release August 1st 2023 and both issues were written by Alyssa Wong with artist Minkyu Jung and colour artist Rachelle Rosenberg.

For Hidden Empire 1, 2, 3 & 4, check episodes 121, 122, 123 & 127. The comic episodes set between Crimson Reign & Hidden Empire are 114 for Bounty Hunters, 115 for Star Wars, 117 for Doctor Aphra, 119 for Darth Vader, and Crimson Reign 5 was tackled in ep 110!

The last episode was 128 which was the 40th anniversary of Return Of The Jedi and where Mike delves into the first 3 comics (of 8) that tie-in with Return Of The Jedi; Jabba’s Palace, Ewoks & Lando, but this episode was uploaded to the feed weeks ago (when it was the 40th anniversary), so the last episode on this feed was technically 127, which was Hidden Empire 4.

Hidden Empire 2 was released December 7th 2022, was written by Charles Soule, with Steven Cummings as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Guru eFX as colour artist. The trade paperback of all 5 Hidden Empire issues is due for release July 4th 2023. Doctor Aphra 28 was released January 25th 2023 and was written by Alyssa Wong with artist Minkyu Jung and colour artist Rachelle Rosenberg. Bounty Hunters 29 was released January 18th 2023 and was written by Ethan Sacks with Paolo Villanelli as artist and Arif Prianto as colour artist.

Ep 121 was Hidden Empire 1 and the comic episodes set between Crimson Reign & Hidden Empire are 114 for Bounty Hunters, 115 for Star Wars, 117 for Doctor Aphra, 119 for Darth Vader, and Crimson Reign 5 was tackled in ep 110! The Fortress Vader episode featuring Momin is number 74 and the first volume of Bounty Hunters comics was tackled in episode 75.

Darth Vader Rides A Podracer Through A Sandstorm! Plus He Saves Sabé & Fights Crimson Dawn (Darth Vader [2020] #24-29) – Ep 119

DARTH VADER’S PATH IS UNCLEAR AS HE SAVES PADMÉ’S LOOKALIKE & HANDMAIDEN; SABÉ! For ep 119, Mike delves into 6 issues of Greg Pak’s Darth Vader run, set after Crimson Reign, where Vader & Sabé pursue an imperial governor working with Crimson Dawn and along the way Vader meets two people from his childhood on Tatooine. Palpatine also meets & tests Sabé and when the other handmaidens hear what Sabé has been up to, Dormé is sent to investigate! Mike also provides information on handmaidens and the Iakaru species!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in January 2023.

Darth Vader’s 2020 issues 24-29 were written by Greg Pak. With artwork done by Marco Castiello on issue 24, Raffaele Ienco on 25-28 and Luke Ross on 29. Carlos Lopez is the colour artist for issues 24-28 with Federico Blee on issue 29. Issue 24 of DV 2020 was released June 29th 2022, issue 29 was released November 30th 2022 and the trade paperback collection for issues 23-27 was released January 10th 2023 while the TPB for issues 28-32 is due to be released on June 27th 2023.

The other comic episodes set between Crimson Reign & Hidden Empire are 114 for Bounty Hunters, 115 for Star Wars and 117 for Doctor Aphra. The last Vader issue was tackled in Crimson Reign 5, in ep 110.

In ep 118, Mike delved into the latest of Cavan Scott’s horror comics; Tales From The Rancor Pit, where 3 horror stories from across the Star Wars galaxy are recounted to the gangster Jabba The Hutt! One features haunted droids during the Clone Wars, the second features monster hunter Ty Yorrick during the High Republic era and the last features Han Solo, Leia & Chewbacca dealing with local creatures on Hoth, set shortly before the Empire attack! Mike also gives information on Hassarians, Cereans, Wampas, LEP droids and more!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ghosts Of Vader’s Castle: Resurrecting Darth Vader: Jaxxon Rabbit, Lina Graf & The Mustafar Fortress With More Horror Stories – Ep 112

NIGHTMARES PLAGUE LINA GRAF & HER CREW WHILE VANÉE PERFORMS A RITUAL TO RESURRECT DARTH VADER! In ep 112, Mike delves into the final 5 “Vader’s Castle” horror stories; Ghosts Of Vader’s Castle, each story shows familiar faces from the original & prequel eras along with plenty of references, shocks and even a surprise appearance or two! This is a must-listen for any horror fans, or those wanting to hear the finale of Lina Graf’s entanglement with the iconic Sith Lord & his Fortress on Mustafar!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in October 2022.

The continuous story is set just after Return Of The Jedi (around 4-5ABY). The writer for these comics was Cavan Scott and Francesco Francavilla is the artist & colour artist for the continuous story. For issue 1, Megan Levens is the flashback artist and Charlie Kirchoff is the flashback colour artist. Derek Charm, Robert Hack and Chris Fenoglio each did artwork & colours on the flashbacks of issues 2, 3 & 4 respectively. Issues 1-5 were released in September/October 2021, the trade paperback collection was released January 2022.

The first batch of Vader’s Castle stories was tackled in episode 76 of SWCIC and the second batch was in ep 103. Mike delved into all four volumes of 2017 Vader in ep 62, 66, 70 & 74 of SWCIC. For the 2015 Vader run (set after A New Hope), check out episodes 15, 17, 19, 23 & 29 of SWCIC, for the 2020 run of Vader comics, check episodes 79 & 81 of SWCIC and check ep 41 for the Vader: Dark Visions anthology mini-series and ep 49 is the Target Vader mini-series.

In ep 110, Mike delved into the 5 Obi-Wan comics, where each issue delves into a different part of his life; from when he was a youngling in the Jedi temple, to going on missions with Qui-Gon as a padawan to two Clone Wars incursions to saving the life of a stormtrooper – this is a must-listen for all fans of this iconic Jedi Master!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Crimson Reign 3: The Archivist Finds Yoda, Qi’ra Helps Leia And Vader Pursues Sabé – (CR3, DV21, Bounty Hunters 21, Doctor Aphra 19 & Star Wars 22) – Ep 106

CRIMSON DAWN’S ARCHIVIST FINDS YODA ON DAGOBAH! In ep 106, Mike delves into the third batch of Crimson Reign comics, where the Crimson Dawn conspiracy continues to unravel in a galaxy of chaos. The Archivist searches the galaxy for the green Jedi Master while the bounty hunter crew plan to capture Vukorah, Aphra & Sana’s search for the Spark Eternal nears its end, Sabé works to manipulate Vader and Qi’ra bargains with Leia while Zahra tortures Shara Bay – all of this is tackled this week, plus Mike provides information on Jeremy Bulloch’s non-Boba-Fett character and more.

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in September 2022.

This story is set after Empire Strikes Back & after the War Of The Bounty Hunters event, but before Return Of The Jedi and the reading order is CR3>BH21>DA19>DV21>SW22.

Crimson Reign 3 was released 9th March 2022 and was written by Charles Soule, with Steven Cummings as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Guru eFX as colour artist. QI’RAS ASSASSINS PREPARE AMIDST THE CHAOS CAUSED BY CRIMSON DAWN! Qi’ra’s assassins; Ochi Of Bestoon & Deathstick attack, all while the four comics crossing-over with CR (Star Wars, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra & Bounty Hunters), continue corresponding stories that will all line up very soon. Aphra continues to search for Ascendant artifacts with Sana Starros, Vader kills suspected Crimson Dawn collaborators, the Bounty Hunter crew searches for 4-LOM and Shara Bey tries to escape the star destroyer Tarkin’s Will without being noticed by the Empire…

IT’S TIME FOR MORE MONSTER STORIES! For ep 103, Mike is delving into the canon comics by IDW Publishing; Return To Vader’s Castle – 5 more horror stories with many familiar faces, character information & connections all perfect for any lover of horror & Star Wars! This episode includes Vader, Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, Tarkin, Jabba The Hutt & B’omarr Monks, zombies, sarlaccs, Frankenstein-like monsters and a whole bunch of references & connections to Star Wars and horror movies!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in August 2022.

The continuous story is set somewhere in the original trilogy era (between 0ABY – 4ABY) and the other stories are all over the prequel & original trilogy era! The writer for these comics was Cavan Scott and Francesco Francavilla is the artist & colour artist for the continuous story. The guest artists are Megan Levens, Kelley Jones, Nick Brokenshire, Nicoletta Baldari & Charles Paul Wilson III and the guest colour artists are Charlie Kirchoff, Michelle Madsen, Nick Brokenshire, Nicoletta Baldari & David Garcia Cruz.

Issues 1-5 were released in October 2019, the trade paperback collection was released March 2020 and the hardcover collection of this & the previous collection; Tales Of Vaders Castle was released January 2021.

The first batch of Vader’s Castle stories was tackled in episode 76 of SWCIC. Mike delved into all four volumes of 2017 Vader in ep 62, 66, 70 & 74 of SWCIC. Star Wars Rebels Reviewed, Season 2: Ahsoka Confronts Vader, Maul’s Return, Rex Joins The Fight, Kanan & Ezra’s Grow, Hondo Ohnaka And More!

As live-action Star Wars shows have paused for the moment, our trio of rebels have continued with their review of Star Wars: Rebels with season 2! This is Maff’s first time watching too, so hearing his reactions is very interesting!

In more detail, this episode is a sequel to the first season of Rebels and the trio’s first RR episode, so make sure you go back and listen to that if you haven’t already, but in this episode, they discuss how season 2 feels different from season 1, it’s comparisons to Andor and the best & worst parts of the show (including sound design). Maff then notes how he’s been consuming far more Star Wars content than he expected, Dave talks about The Clone Wars and then they discuss Hondo Ohnaka and the purrgils. The trio then delve into Ahsoka’s character and of course, the finale; Twilight Of The Apprentice!

VADER GOES TO EXEGOL & RETURNS TO MUSTAFAR! In ep 80, Mike embarks on the second volume of the 2020 Darth Vader comics; Into The Fire, where Palpatine tests Vader shortly after his failure in Empire Strikes Back, by sending him back to Mustafar to be hunted by the sith assassin; Ochi of Bestoon! In this story Vader battles many foes and even makes his way to Exegol (planet from The Rise Of Skywalker), plus Mike gives additional info on Coruscant, Mustafar, Sith homeworlds, the Eye of the Webbish Bog and more!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Vader 2020: Padmé’s Handmaidens; The Amidalans. Plus Visiting Tatooine, Naboo & Polis Massa, Death Troopers & Empire Ascendant (Darth Vader [2020] Vol 1: Dark Heart Of The Sith #1-5) – Ep 79

VADER FINDS PADMÉ’S HANDMAIDENS! For ep 79, Mike embarks on the first volume of the 2020 run of Darth Vader comics; Dark Heart Of The Sith, set shortly after the end of Empire Strikes Back! Vader searches for answers surrounding Padmé’s death over 20 years after it happened, travelling back to Tatooine, Naboo and even Polis Massa, all while being entangled with The Amidalans! Mike also tackles the short story found in Empire Ascendant and gives additional info on Death Troopers, Gregar Typho, Padmé’s handmaidens, Naboo’s aquatic creatures and more!

These comics are set after Empire Strikes Back (& after the first run of the Star Wars, but before the War Of the Bounty Hunters crossover). The writer for these comics is Greg Pak, Raffaele Ience was the artist and Neeraj Menon was colour artist. Issue 1 was released February 2020, Issue 5 was released September 2020 and the trade paperback collection was released November 2020. In Service To The Empire is a short story from Empire Ascendant 1, released in December 2019 and was also written by Greg Pak, with Roland Boschi as artist and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Fortress Vader Finale: Castle Immortal On Mustafar, The Sith Mask Of Momin & An Intense Force Vision (Darth Vader [2017] Vol 4: #19-25) – Ep 74

FORTRESS VADER IS UPON US! Yes, the finale of Mike’s favourite Star Wars comics ever, comes to an end with Vader creating his immortal castle on Mustafar with the help of the Sith Momin to try and open up a portal to Padmé all while fighting off native Mustafarians and many other hurdles along the way in this exciting finale! In addition, Mike provides information on many other Jedi that appear in this comic, the history of Mustafar and more!

This story is set just approximately 5 years after Revenge Of The Sith (14BBY). The writer for these comics was Charles Soule, Giuseppe Camuncoli was the penciller, Daniele Orlandini was the inker and David Curiel was the colour artist for all issues excluding issue 20. Dono Sanchez-Almara was the co-colour artist on issues 20, 23, 24 & 25 and Erick Arciniega was co-colour artist on issues 20 & 25.

Issue 19 was released August 2018, Issue 25 was released December 2018, the trade paperback collection was released August 2020 and the full omnibus of the 2017 Vader comics is due to be released November 2021.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – The Burning Seas: Vader Meets Admiral Ackbar, Is Hunted By Tarkin & Discovers The Death Star (Darth Vader [2017] Vol 3: #13-18 & Annual 2) – Ep 70

For ep 70, Mike embarks on the third volume of the 2017 Darth Vader comics; The Burning Seas, tackling plot points of Vader confronting Gial Ackbar & King Lee-Char on Mon Cala, hunting down an ex-jedi padawan, before he is then hunted by Tarkin and Annual 2 shows him discovering the true power of the Death Star, all in one great episode! Mike also gives more information on numerous connections including the inquisitorius, Mon Cala & their star cruisers, Tarkin and so much more – this is a must-listen for any fans of the Dark Lord!

These comics are set just approximately 1 year after Revenge Of The Sith, in 18 BBY.

All standard issues were written by Charles Soule, with Giuseppe Camuncoli as penciller, Daniele Orlandini as inker and David Curiel as colour artist for all issues excluding 16, as Java Tartaglia & Guru eFX are colourists on issue 16. Darth Vader Annual 2 was written by Chuck Wendig, with Leonard Kirk as penciller, Walden Wong & Scott Hanna as inkers and Nolan Woodard as colour artist.

Issue 13 was released March 2018, issue 18 & Annual 2 were released July 2018, the trade paperback collection was released April 2018 and the hardcover of volumes 1&2 was released October 2018. The omnibus with all 2017 Vader comics will be released October 2021.

This story is heavily linked to the 8th volume of 2015 Star Wars comics (Mutiny On Mon Cala) which are issues 44-49 and Mike tackled these on ep 48 of SWCIC.

Mike tackled the first two volumes of 2017 Vader in ep 62 & 66 of SWCIC. For the 2015 Vader run (set after A New Hope), check out episodes 15, 17, 19, 23 & 29 of SWCIC, plus ep 41 features the Vader: Dark Visions anthology mini-series and ep 49 is the Target Vader mini-series.

For ep 69, Mike embarks on the final issues of the 2015 main Star Wars run of comics; Rogues & Rebels/Destination Hoth! These stories are all set just before Empire Strikes Back, around 3 ABY.

Star Wars 73-75 were written by Greg Pak, with Phil Noto as the artist and colour artist. “An Echo Of Victory” from Empire Ascendant was written by Charles Soule with Luke Ross as artist, Guru eFX as colour artist. Issue 73 of Star Wars was released October 2019, issue 75 was released November 2019, Empire Ascendant was released December 2019 and the trade paperback collection was released March 2020.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Vader Vs Jocasta Nu & The Lightsaber Rifle, Plus The Grand Inquisitor, Bounty Hunters & Force-Sensitive Children (Darth Vader [2017] Vol 2: #7-12) – Ep 66

For ep 66, it’s time for another volume of 2017 Darth Vader and this time, Jocasta Nu is in the Sith Lord’s sights! Mike tackles the next story set just after Revenge Of The Sith where Vader pursues the jedi archivist; Jocastu Nu as she possesses an object that could bring the Empire toppling down, plus Vader is attacked by mercenaries & bounty hunters, so goes up the chain to find out who put the hit on him… Mike also gives additional information on inquisitors, ancient artifacts, a lightsaber rifle and more!

These comics are set just after Revenge Of The Sith, in 19 BBY.

All issues were written by Charles Soule, with Giuseppe Camuncoli as penciller, Daniele Orlandini as inker and David Curiel as colour artist. Issue 7 was released November 2017, issue 12 was released February 2018, the trade paperback collection was released April 2018 and the hardcover of volumes 1&2 was released October 2018. Annual 3 is a story involving Winloss & Nokk, a peculiar human/trandoshan couple who appears in Aphra 30 and Black Krrsantan even makes an appearance!

These comics are set just before Empire Strikes Back, around 3 ABY.

They were all written by Simon Spurrier – Aphra 37-40 & the epilogue had Caspar Wijngaard as the artist with Lee Loughridge as colour artist, while Annual 3 had Elsa Charretier as artist with Edgar Delgado & Jim Campbell as colour artists.

Issue 37 & Annual 3 were released in October 2019, issue 40 & Empire Ascendant were released December 2019 and the trade paperback collection was released February 2020.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Darth Vader Bleeds His Lightsaber Crystal, Plus The Grand Inquisitor, Kirak Infil’a & The Barash Vow – The First Of Charles Soule’s Run (Darth Vader [2017] Vol 1: #1-6) – Ep 62

For Ep 62, Mike embarks on the first arc in the 2017 Darth Vader series; arguably his favourite Star Wars comic of the new canon! In this story, Vader struggles with his new suit, fights the jedi warrior Kirak as well as the Grand Inquisitor, obtains his new lightsaber, bleeds the kyber crystal and more! Mike also gives information on jedi starfighters, Mas Amedda, Mustafar’s history, holocrons, royal guards and more connective tissue within this comic.

These comics are set just after Revenge Of The Sith, in 19 BBY.

All issues were written by Charles Soule, with Giuseppe Camuncoli as penciller, Cam Smith as inker and David Curiel as colour artist. Issue 1 was released June 2017, issue 6 was released October 2017 and the trade paperback collection was released December 2017 (the digital eBook version was released November 2017).

For ep 60 of SWCIC, Mike embarks on the first 5 issues of the War Of The Bounty Hunters 34-issue crossover event, which this month form “the prelude”! This story takes place just after Empire Strikes Back; carbonite-frozen Han Solo is stolen from Boba Fett on his way to collecting the bounty from Jabba The Hutt and now the whole galaxy is after Solo, including Luke & Chewie, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, Beilert Valance, Dengar and many other bounty hunters – this is the crossover event of the decade, so is not one to be missed!

This story is set just after Empire Strikes Back (& after the first runs of the Star Wars, Darth Vader & Doctor Aphra comics) and the reading order is WoBH Alpha>SW13>BH12>DV12>DA10.

WoBH Alpha was released 5th May 2021, it written by Charles Soule with Steve McNiven as artist and Laura Martin as colour artist. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 53: Hope Dies; Space Battles, Betrayal & No Escape (Star Wars #50-55)

This week, Mike tackles the ominous arc Hope Dies, starting in the 50th issue of the main Star Wars run! As well as tackling this dark story-arc with the usual gang of the original trilogy, this episode features a lot of space battles, numerous recognisable characters from A New Hope getting killed, details of Vader’s Star Destroyer; The Executor, and so much more!

Please note this episode was originally released in May of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

This arc is set at 1 ABY (1 year after A New Hope, 2 years before Empire Strikes Back).

All issues were written by Kieron Gillen, with Salvador Larroca as the artist, and Guru eFX as colour artist.

Issue 50 was released July 2018, issue 55 was released October 2018 and the trade paperback collection was released December 2018.

Or Kill It” and in “Out Of The Shadow” Kylo Ren faces against a Zillo beast which Vader couldn’t defeat. Plus Mike gives additional information about each of the four villains!

Darth Vader Vs Beilert Valance, Dengar & Bounty Hunters (Target Vader) – Star Wars: Comics In Canon Ep 49

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike tackles the 6-part mini-series Target Vader, where a group of bounty hunters are hired by the mysterious Hidden Hand to take down Darth Vader! In addition to some very cool Vader moments, a bounty hunter team (including Dengar) is put together, the rebellion gets involved and Beilert Valance gets his full back-story flushed out, including his homeworld Chorin!

This story is set after A New Hope and before Empire Strikes Back so is between 0-3 ABY.

All issues of Target Vader were written by Robbie Thompson. The many artists were; Marc Laming, Cris Bolson, Stefano Landini, Marco Failla, Roberto Di Salvo and Georges Duarte. The many colour artists were; Neeraj Menon, Rachelle Roseberg, Jordan Boyd, Andres Mossa, Federico Blee, Erick Arciniega and Giada Marchisio. Issue 1 was released July 2019, 6 was released December 2019 and the trade paperback was released February 2020.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 43: Boba’s Hunt, Tarkin’s Scars, Jabba’s Deal & Vader Disobeys (Age Of Rebellion Villains)

This episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon features the 5 villains stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Grand Moff Tarkin in “Tooth & Claw”, Boba Fett in “Hunter’s Heart”, Jabba The Hutt in “Great To Be Jabba”, Darth Vader in “To The Letter” and IG-88 in “The Long Game”, Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, bounty hunters, species and more!

The 4 main Age Of Republic comics were written by Greg Pak, with the IG-88 story (in the AoR special) written by Simon Spurrier. For Tarkin & Boba Fett, Marc Laming was the artist and Neeraj Menon was colourists, with Jordan Boyd also doing colouring for Tarkin. Jabba’s 3 artists were Emilio Laiso, Roland Boschi & Marco Turini with the 3 colourists Andres Mossa, Rachelle Rosenberg & Neeraj Menon. For Vader, Rámon Bachs was the artist and Stéphane Paitreau was colourist, for IG-88 Casper Wijngaard was the artist and Lee Loughridge was colourist.

Tarkin’s comic and the AoR Special were released in April 2019, with Darth Vader being released June 2019 (with the other stories released in-between). The AoR Villains trade paperback was released in September 2019 while the AoR hardcover (with heroes & villains) was released June 2020.

For the prequel-era Age Of Republic stories, check out episodes; 2 for Maul, 26 for Dooku, 31 for Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, 35 for Jango Fett, Grievous & Asajj Ventress and 39 for the Padmé, Anakin, Mace Windu and Jar Jar & Rex stories. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 34: Aphra & The Ancient Jedi Ordu Aspectu (2016 Doctor Aphra #1-6)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike delves into the first volume of the first run (2016) of Doctor Aphra comics, running alongside the main run of Star Wars comics and set just after the first run of Vader comics! For more detail, Mike gives a brief history of Aphra (in-case you hadn’t listened to previous episodes), before delving into the comics that show how she got her doctorate, her relationship with her dad Korin, exploring the ancient Jedi Ordu Aspectu & the Immortal Rur all while the Empire are in pursuit and more!

If you need an introduction to Aphra, you can listen to episode 30 of SWCIC where Mike & Tony talk about her character or you can listen to her full story in the Vader comics, which Mike tackles in episodes 15, 17, 19, 23 & 29! Alternatively, you can also listen to the Aphra audio drama, which shows her time in the Vader comics from Aphra’s perspective!

Please note this episode was originally released November 2020.

Kieron Gillen was the writer, with Kev Walker as the artist and Antonio Fabela as the colourist. The first issue was released in December 2016 and issue 6 was released April 2017, the trade paperback was out July 2017 and the volume 1 hardcover (including these and the Screaming Citadel) was released October 2018.

Last week, in episode 33, Mike tackled the Yoda’s Secret War comics, featuring Yoda saving a force sensitive child from pirates, learning a “new force power” from an unexpected master, living rock and how Yoda’s involvement in the secret war catches up to Luke nearly 35 years later!

#162 Pt 1 – Discussing Kenobi Before His Show: Gandalf Likeness, Reading Material & What We Are Expecting With Ben of Star Wars Timeline

Mike speaks with Ben of the YouTube channel Star Wars Timeline, all about the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the character himself and much more!

In more detail, in part 1 of their chat, Mike starts by giving some background information on Kenobi before the Ben & Mike talk about what Kenobi as a character means to them, especially when they were first introduced to him, they confirm some of the Obi-Wan content that people may want to read (from both Canon & Legends), what they expect from the upcoming series and how it affects dialogue in A New Hope – this and many other aspects of Kenobi are discussed!

Part 2 will be out next week (but is already available on Patreon), where the duo’s discussion continues with their view on the importance of the series, which characters they’d like to see (& not see) and of how much screentime they have. The 6 issues of vol 4 of Darth Vader were written by Kieron Gillen with the artist Salvador Larroca and colourist Edgar Delgado. Issue #20 was released May 2016, issue #25 was released October 2016, the trade paperback collection was released December 2016 and the full Darth Vader Omnibus was released September 2017. 

Included within End Of Games are two “mini-comics” both also written by Kieron Gillen; “The Misadventures of Triple-Zero and Beetee” has Mike Norton as the artist and David Curriel as colourist and “Coda” has Max Fiumara as the artist and Dave Stewart as the colourist. 

Last week, episode 28 brought the very first book review on Star Wars: Comics In Canon, all about Claudia Gray’s Master & Apprentice; a book set years before The Phantom Menace, focusing on Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi’s relationship and their mission on Pijal, along with flashbacks giving insight into Qui-Gon’s relationship with his master Dooku and 6 prophecies including the infamous Chosen One prophecy!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 19: Darth Vader Takes On The Rebellion Army (Vader Down Crossover)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike talks about the 6 issue crossover event between the main run of Star Wars Comics and the Darth Vader comics named “Vader Down”, where Vader is shot down over Vrogas Vas searching for Luke Skywalker, inadvertently discovering a rebel refuelling base and has to fight his way through hundreds of rebels with only the help of the rogue archaeologist Doctor Aphra, her homicidal droid companions and the power of the dark side!

We recommend listening to episodes 9, 13, 15 & 17 of SWCIC (if you haven’t read the comics) as these episodes tackle the events leading up to the Vader Down crossover event.

The 6 comics involved are Vader Down 1, Star Wars 13 & 14 and Darth Vader 13-15. Vader Down 1 and both Star Wars comics are written by Jason Aaron, the artist is Mike Deodato Jr and the colourist is Laura Martin for Vader Down and Frank Martin Jr for the Star Wars comics. The 3 Darth Vader comics are written by Kieron Gillen, the artist is Salvador Larroca and the colourist is Edgar Delgado. The next volume of Darth Vader will be talked about next month, and the main run of Star Wars comics will continue with its third volume in two weeks (episode 17) which runs alongside these Vader comics (timeline-wise) – so be sure to subscribe and keep updated!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 9: After A New Hope, Skywalker Strikes (Star Wars #1-6)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike delves into the first volume of the main run of Star Wars comics: issues 1-6 of the first comics released under the new canon – the comics are set shortly after events of A New Hope and this story arc is called “Skywalker Strikes” featuring Luke facing off against Vader for the first time, how Vader obtained Luke’s surname, Boba Fett’s involvement and more! 

This run of Star Wars comics are written by Jason Aaron, pencilled by John Cassaday and Laura Martin is the colourist. Issue #1 was released 24th January 2015 and issue #6 was released June 3rd. The collection of these were released on October 6th 2015.
