THE WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS ENDS! This week, Mike embarks on the final issues of the War Of The Bounty Hunters crossover event. In this finale, Qi’ra meets Leia, Boba & Valance try to retrieve the carbonite-frozen Han Solo, Aphra finds an ancient dark side artifact, Vader punishes the Hutt Council, IG-88 is rebuilt and more! Plus Mike gives additional info on the Knights Of Ren, the various IG droids, a “Thought Dowser” as well as plenty of other connections!

BEILERT VALANCE IS BACK! After his mutilation from imperial service, the cyborg bounty hunter returns in a new comic series, joined by many famous bounty hunters including Bossk, Boba Fett & more! Listen as Mike takes you through the plot of this first volume, showing how a job that went wrong has caused a war between two syndicates; The Mourner’s Wail & The Broken Clan, but things are not how they seem… Plus Mike gives background information on Bossk (including his beliefs in the “scorekeeper”), featured planets, species and more!

This story is set just after Empire Strikes Back (3ABY). The writer for these comics was Ethan Sacks, Paolo Villanelli was the artist and Arif Prianto was the colour artist. Issue 1 was released March 2020, Issue 5 was released September 2020 and the trade paperback collection was released November 2020.

For ep 68, Mike embarks on the next 6 issues of War Of The Bounty Hunters for the second full chapter! Qi’ra & Crimson Dawn hold the auction for Han Solo frozen-in-carbonite, gathering the most notorious crime syndicates in the galaxy as well as piquing the interest of the Empire & the Rebellion! Mike provides tonnes of connections to other SW content as well as exploring the many different perspectives & double-crosses in the next chapter in this tantalising tale!

This story is set just after Empire Strikes Back (& after the first runs of the Star Wars, Darth Vader & Doctor Aphra comics) and the reading order is BH14>DA12>WoBH2>DV14>Jabba>SW15.

BH14 was released 7th July 2021, it written by Ethan Sacks with Paolo Villanelli as artist and Arif Prianto as colour artist. DA12 was released 14th July 2021, it written by Alyssa Wong with Minkyu Jung as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist. WoBH 2 was released 14th July 2021, it written by Charles Soule with Luke Ross as artist and Neeraj Menon as colour artist. DV14 was released 21st July 2021, was written by Greg Pak with Raffaele Ienco as artist and Jason Keith as colour artist. Jabba The Hutt 1 was released July 21st 2021, was written by Justina Ireland with the “present” artist as Ibraim Robertson and colour artist as Edgar Delgado while the flashbacks have Luca Pizzari as artist and Giada Marchisio as colour artist. SW15 was released 28th July 2021, it was written by Charles Soule with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist.

After Boba Fett has carbonite-frozen Han Solo stolen from him by Crimson Dawn, the galaxy prepares for the mysterious gathering organised by the syndicate to auction off everyone’s favourite smuggler. A few of the interested parties includes Leia, Lando, Luke & Chewie, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra & Sana Starros, Beilert Valance & Dengar, are to name a few of the involved, plus this chapter, includes Durge’s first time in the new canon and a familiar face not seen since Solo: A Star Wars Story! This is the chapter of the crossover event of the decade is not to be missed!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 43: Boba’s Hunt, Tarkin’s Scars, Jabba’s Deal & Vader Disobeys (Age Of Rebellion Villains)

This episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon features the 5 villains stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Grand Moff Tarkin in “Tooth & Claw”, Boba Fett in “Hunter’s Heart”, Jabba The Hutt in “Great To Be Jabba”, Darth Vader in “To The Letter” and IG-88 in “The Long Game”, Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, bounty hunters, species and more!

The 4 main Age Of Republic comics were written by Greg Pak, with the IG-88 story (in the AoR special) written by Simon Spurrier. For Tarkin & Boba Fett, Marc Laming was the artist and Neeraj Menon was colourists, with Jordan Boyd also doing colouring for Tarkin. Jabba’s 3 artists were Emilio Laiso, Roland Boschi & Marco Turini with the 3 colourists Andres Mossa, Rachelle Rosenberg & Neeraj Menon. For Vader, Rámon Bachs was the artist and Stéphane Paitreau was colourist, for IG-88 Casper Wijngaard was the artist and Lee Loughridge was colourist.

Tarkin’s comic and the AoR Special were released in April 2019, with Darth Vader being released June 2019 (with the other stories released in-between). The AoR Villains trade paperback was released in September 2019 while the AoR hardcover (with heroes & villains) was released June 2020.

For the prequel-era Age Of Republic stories, check out episodes; 2 for Maul, 26 for Dooku, 31 for Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, 35 for Jango Fett, Grievous & Asajj Ventress and 39 for the Padmé, Anakin, Mace Windu and Jar Jar & Rex stories. Mike will be tackling the Age Of Rebellion Heroes comics in four episodes time, so be sure to subscribe for that!

In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 42), Mike tackled the 2nd (or 3rd) story-arc of the first run of Doctor Aphra comics, called The Enormous Profit, where Aphra tries to sell the reactivated crystal of the ancient jedi Rur to a group of wealthy bidders at a special auction and unsurprisingly, things don’t go to plan, especially when Darth Vader shows up! The annual also gives more back story to the brutal wookiee bounty hunter; Black Krrsantan!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 9: After A New Hope, Skywalker Strikes (Star Wars #1-6)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike delves into the first volume of the main run of Star Wars comics: issues 1-6 of the first comics released under the new canon – the comics are set shortly after events of A New Hope and this story arc is called “Skywalker Strikes” featuring Luke facing off against Vader for the first time, how Vader obtained Luke’s surname, Boba Fett’s involvement and more!

This run of Star Wars comics are written by Jason Aaron, pencilled by John Cassaday and Laura Martin is the colourist. Issue #1 was released 24th January 2015 and issue #6 was released June 3rd. The collection of these were released on October 6th 2015.
