Star Wars: Comics In Canon – SW 2020: Stuck In No Space, Searching For The Kezarat Convoy, Plus Amilyn Holdo, The Nihil, Abyssians & More (Star Wars [2020] Vol 6: 30-33) – Ep 138

THE REBELS ARE TRAPPED IN NO SPACE, HOW WILL THEY ESCAPE? For ep 138, Mike delves back into the main run of Star Wars comics from 2020, where Chewie, Holdo, Lando, Leia, Lobot & Luke search for the Kezarat Convoy by using a High-Republic-era Nihil path engine and find themselves in trouble! In addition to the comic’s plot, Mike delves into a bit of information regarding the High Republic, Amilyn Holdo, Abyssians and more!

Star Wars 30-33 were all written by Charles Soule with Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist and for issues 30 & 31, Andrés Genolet was artist while Madibek Musabekov was artist for issues 32 & 33. Issue 30 was released January 4th 2023, issue 33 was released April 5th 2023 and the trade paperback collection was released 26th September 2023.

The ep is another canon book review, but this one takes place from Attack Of The Clones through The Clone Wars and into years after Order 66, following Iskat Akaris’ journey from Jedi Padawan to The Thirteenth Sister (an inquisitor) and the many situations she finds herself in along the way, including searching for other members of her mysterious species!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Han Solo & Chewbacca Vol 2: Han’s Missing & Chewbacca’s In Prison With Maz Kanata – A Dark Droids Event Prelude: Ajax Sigma (HS&C Vol 2: Dead Or Alive #6-10) – Ep 125

HAN & CHEWIE FIND A MYSTERIOUS DROID NEURAL CORE, BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN? For ep 125, Mike delves into the second & final volume of the Han Solo & Chewbacca series, where Chewie finds himself in a prison with Maz Kanata and the young Phaedra, while Han recovers from being shot by Greedo. The duo must perform a heist all while avoiding a marshall, bounty hunters, the empire and more – plus Mike gives information on Korin Pers, the Gran & Chagrian species and gives an insight in what’s to come for the upcoming Dark Droids crossover event!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in April 2023.

This story is set after the movie Solo but before A New Hope, somewhere 2-8 years before the Battle of Yavin (8-2BBY).

Han Solo & Chewbacca’s second & final arc; Dead Or Alive/The Crystal Run Part 2, was written by Marc Guggenheim, the artist was David Messina on issues 6, 8, 9 & 10 with Paul Fry on issues 6 & 7 and the colour artist on all issues was Alex Sinclair. Issue 6 was released September 28th 2022, issue 10 was released March 1st 2023 and the trade paperback collection is due for release June 6th 2023.

For the first arc of HS&C, check episode 107 of SWCIC and for Star Wars: Revelations, check episode 120.

Last episode brought another High Republic review, this time for the audiodrama in phase 2: The Battle Of Jedha by George Mann! As per Mike’s other reviews, he begins by giving an overview of the era and provides information on the book itself, before he gives his spoiler-free thoughts. He then gives a mild spoiler warning and speaks more about the characters in the book, the themes and the plot information given in the first part of the book. Mike then reads the blurb/publisher’s summary and gives a major spoiler warning, before giving his thoughts on the whole book and finishes the episode with giving an overview of the book’s plot!

Join us on the first 5 issues (of 10) of their time doing a job for Jabba The Hutt where nothing seems to go right for the duo; they meet a man claiming to be Han’s father, have to work with the nefarious Greedo, Chewie gets in (another) violent confrontation with the Wookiee bounty hunter Krrsantan plus so much more! Some unexpected familiar faces also appear…

Han Solo & Chewbacca’s first arc; The Crystal Run, was written by Marc Guggenheim, the artist was David Messina and the colour artist was Alex Sinclair. Issue 1 was released March 9th 2022, issue 5 was released August 10th 2022 and the trade paperback collection is due for release November 8th 2022.

For other Han Solo content, Mike tackled his time in the Imperial army in ep 10 of SWCIC, Han is in the majority of 2015 Star Wars comics, which starts in ep 9 and Han’s Age Of Rebellion comic is tackled in episode 47. Previously, in ep 106, Mike delved into the third batch of Crimson Reign comics, where the Crimson Dawn conspiracy continues to unravel in a galaxy of chaos. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – What Is Life Day? Han & Chewie’s Holiday Special; Anthology Stories About Wookiees, Sarlaccs And During The High Republic Era! (Life Day #1: Paid On Delivery, Gift Of Light & Deck The Halls) – Ep 83

HAPPY LIFE DAY! To celebrate this special time of year, Mike embarks on the Life Day anthology comic, which contains a total of four stories! As well as giving plenty of information on Life Day, Mike goes through each of the stories (3 of which include Han & Chewie), providing connections to many things, including Chewie’s family & culture, Sarlaccs, the Arcona species and more!

The main story is set somewhere after Return Of The Jedi but before The Force Awakens, while Deck The Halls is set in the High Republic era (231BBY), Paid On Delivery is between Solo (10BBY) & A new Hope (0BBY) and Gift Of Light is set within the original trilogy (0ABY-4ABY).

This episode was originally released on the feed of Comics In Motion in December 2021!

Life Day 1 was released 24th November 2021. The main story/framing sequence is written by Cavan Scott, with Ivan Fiorelli as artist and Chris Sotomayor as colour artist. Regarding Deck The Halls, Justina Ireland is the writer with Georges Jeanty as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Pete Pantazis as colour artist. Paid On Delivery was written by Steve Orlando with Paul Fry as artist and Alex Sinclair as colour artist. Gift Of Light was written by Jody Houser with Kei Zama as artist and Ruth Redmond as colour artist.

In the last ep (82), Mike embarked on the final issues of the War Of The Bounty Hunters crossover event. In the finale, Qi’ra meets Leia, Boba & Valance try to retrieve the carbonite-frozen Han Solo, Aphra finds an ancient dark side artifact, Vader punishes the Hutt Council, IG-88 is rebuilt and more! Plus Mike gives additional info on the Knights Of Ren, the various IG droids, a “Thought Dowser” as well as plenty of other connections!

Leia The Bounty Hunter, Luke’s Dark Vision and Han & Lando Losing Credits (Age Of Rebellion Heroes) – Star Wars: Comics In Canon Ep 47

This episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon features the 6 Heroes stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Leia in “Princess Scoundrel”, Han (& Chewie) in “Running From The Rebellion”, Lando in “Cloud City Blues”, Luke in “Fight Or Flight”, Yoda in “The Trial Of Dagobah” and Biggs Darklighter & Porkins in “Stolen Valor”, plus Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, species and more!

Please note this episode was originally released in March of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

The 4 main Age Of Republic comics were written by Greg Pak with Tamra Bonvillain as colourist and the following artists did artwork for these stories; Marc Deering, Chris Spouse, Karl Story, Will Sliney, Matteo Buffagni, Scott Koblish and Stefano Landini.

The Yoda story (in AoR special) was written by Marc Guggenheim, with Andrea Broccardo as artist and Dono Sánchez-Almara as the colour artist, while the Biggs Darklighter/Porkins story was written & drawn by Jon Adams while Chris O’Halloran did the colours.

Leias’s comic and the AoR Special were released in April 2019, with Luke Skywalker’s released June 2019 (with the other stories released in-between). The AoR Heroes trade paperback was released in August 2019 while the AoR hardcover (with heroes & villains) was released June 2020. The characters in this episode have also had a variety of mini-series between them so check out episodes; 14 for Leia, 24 & 40 for Han, 18 & 37 for Lando, 33 for Yoda and 22 for Chewbacca, as well as the variety of the main run of Star Wars comics for the usual trio!

In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 46), Mike tackled the weirdest (& potentially the best) instalment of Doctor Aphra so far, where Aphra has been enslaved by the homicidal protocol droid Triple-Zero to assemble a crew to steal his lost memories from some of the most secure imperial archive facilities, causing further entanglement with imperial Magna Tolvan, the capture of rebel general Hera Syndulla, setting imperial experiments free and much more!

The 5 issues of Han Solo were written by Marjorie Liu, with the penciller Mark Brooks, the inker being Mark Brooks on issues 1,4 & 5, Dexter Vine doing issues 2 & 3, with Sonia Obeck as the colourist with help from Matt Milla on issue 4. Issue 1 was released June 2016, issue 5 was released November 2016 and the trade paperback collection was released January 2017. The hardcover released in May 2018 includes these comics as well as volume 2 of the main run of Star Wars comics; Showdown On The Smugglers Moon.
