SAV MALAGÁN FINDS HERSELF ON JEDHA’S STREETS, BUT WHERE IS MAZ KANATA? For ep 136, Mike finished Phase 2’s High Republic Adventures comics, where Sav Malagán’s tries to find herself amidst battling pirates, all while the Dank Graks kidnap Maz Kanata in an attempt to take Takodana! Plus Mike talks Corellian hounds, Blarina and Therm Scissorhands!

High Republic Adventures (2022) issues 5-8 were written by Daniel José Older with the colour art by Michael Atiyeh, with issues 5 & 6 artwork by Harvey Tolibao and 7 & 8 by Toni Bruno. Issue 5 was released May 31st 2023, issue 8 was released June 28th 2023 and the trade paperback collection is due for release on December 5th 2023.

The first volume of phase 2 Marvel comics were tackled in episode 126 (out May 13th 2023), second volume was in ep 135 and the first vol of High Republic Adventures comic (Dark Horse) were released in ep 132 (7th July).

SAV MALAGÁN & MAZ KANATA GO AFTER A FORCE SENSITIVE GANG, BUT UNCOVER MORE THAN THEY EXPECT! For ep 132, Mike delves into Phase 2’s High Republic Adventures comics, where a young Sav Malagán sneaks off with the pirate queen Maz Kanata to chase down the Dank Graks, meeting some familiar faces along the way, but Sav must defy her Jedi Master to do so – will the adventure prove too much for this young padawan? Also Mike gives information on the Scarlett Skulls, Kyuzo and more!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in July 2023.

High Republic Adventures (2022) issues 1-4 were written by Daniel José Older, with artwork by Toni Bruno and the colour artist is Michael Atiyeh. Issue 1 was released November 30th 2022, 4 was released May 3rd 2023 and the trade paperback collection is due for release on September 5th 2023.

Phase 2 book reviews were released in 2023; Path Of Deceit on 7th Jan, Quest For Hidden City on February 14th, Convergence on March 18th, The Battle Of Jedha on April 22nd and Cataclysm on 17th June, with the first volume/wave of Marvel’s phase 2 comics being tacked in episode 126 (out May 13th 2023).

Previously, in ep 131, Mike confirms WHAT DID YODA DO BEFORE THE HIGH REPUBLIC AND HOW WAS HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH DOOKU BEFORE THE PHANTOM MENACE? Mike delved the first 6 issues of Yoda, which contain 2 story arcs; the first set during the High Republic era where he goes to the planet Turrak to help Scalvi natives, while the second is set before The Phantom Menace, where Yoda asks Dooku to help train some initiates, but when a Wookiee has a vision about a Trandoshian initiate, tensions rise, especially with Yoda & Dooku’s conflicting views on such matters. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Han Solo & Chewbacca Vol 2: Han’s Missing & Chewbacca’s In Prison With Maz Kanata – A Dark Droids Event Prelude: Ajax Sigma (HS&C Vol 2: Dead Or Alive #6-10) – Ep 125

HAN & CHEWIE FIND A MYSTERIOUS DROID NEURAL CORE, BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN? For ep 125, Mike delves into the second & final volume of the Han Solo & Chewbacca series, where Chewie finds himself in a prison with Maz Kanata and the young Phaedra, while Han recovers from being shot by Greedo. The duo must perform a heist all while avoiding a marshall, bounty hunters, the empire and more – plus Mike gives information on Korin Pers, the Gran & Chagrian species and gives an insight in what’s to come for the upcoming Dark Droids crossover event!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in April 2023.

This story is set after the movie Solo but before A New Hope, somewhere 2-8 years before the Battle of Yavin (8-2BBY).

Han Solo & Chewbacca’s second & final arc; Dead Or Alive/The Crystal Run Part 2, was written by Marc Guggenheim, the artist was David Messina on issues 6, 8, 9 & 10 with Paul Fry on issues 6 & 7 and the colour artist on all issues was Alex Sinclair. Issue 6 was released September 28th 2022, issue 10 was released March 1st 2023 and the trade paperback collection is due for release June 6th 2023.

For the first arc of HS&C, check episode 107 of SWCIC and for Star Wars: Revelations, check episode 120.

Last episode brought another High Republic review, this time for the audiodrama in phase 2: The Battle Of Jedha by George Mann! As per Mike’s other reviews, he begins by giving an overview of the era and provides information on the book itself, before he gives his spoiler-free thoughts. He then gives a mild spoiler warning and speaks more about the characters in the book, the themes and the plot information given in the first part of the book. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Halcyon Legacy: The Galactic Starcruiser’s Anthology Stories; From High Republic To Last Jedi, Including Burryaga, Aurra Sing, Hondo Ohnaka, Lando, Anakin, Padmé & More – Ep 105

THE GALACTIC STARCRUISER’S ANTHOLOGY SERIES EMERGES; THE HALCYON LEGACY! In ep 105, Mike delves into 6 stories within 5 comics surrounding the canon cruise ship The Halcyon which span from The High Republic Era all the way up to The Last Jedi, with stories in each of the main eras of the current Star Wars canon! As some pirates try to capture a resistance spy from the ship, stories are told to keep a young girl’s mind off of the havoc, including an adventure with Wookiee padawan Burryaga, bounty hunter Aurra Sing fighting a monster, Maz Kanata working with Hondo Ohnaka & Lando to steal back an artifact, Anakin & Padmé pursue a senator and a man is tracked down by some familiar bounty hunters – all within this exciting episode!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in August 2022.

The main/frame story is set after The Last Jedi but before The Rise of Skywalker, around 34ABY. The subsequent stories are set around phase 1 of the High Republic (230BBY), the clone wars (22-19BBY), the imperial era (10ABY) and near A New Hope (0-1ABY).

Halcyon Legacy was written by Ethan Sacks with Will Sliney as artist and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist. Issue 1 was released February 2nd 2022, issue 5 was released August 3rd 2022 and the trade paperback collection is due for release November 1st 2022.

Previously, in ep 104, the second batch of Crimson Reign comics were in Mike’s sights, which continues Qi’ra & Crimson Dawn’s efforts to disrupt the Empire’s hold on the galaxy, including Ochi Of Bestoon & Deathstick attack, Aphra continues to search for Ascendant artifacts with Sana Starros, Vader kills suspected Crimson Dawn collaborators, the Bounty Hunter crew searches for 4-LOM and Shara Bey tries to escape the star destroyer Tarkin’s Will without being noticed by the Empire!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 56: Stories Of Resistance Heroes Before The Sequel Trilogy (Age Of Resistance Heroes)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike tackles the one-shot comics from the era of the sequel trilogy; the Age Of Resistance! This episode features bios & stories about Finn, Rose Tico, Poe Dameron, Rey, Amilyn Holdo, Maz Kanata and BB-8, who each have their own comics that Mike goes through, along with the many connections to other SW media!

These stories are all set between 28-34 ABY (a bit before the sequel trilogy, bar Rey’s story).

Please note this episode was originally released in May of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

Finn, Poe, Rose & Rey’s stories were all written by Tom Taylor, with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Guru eFX as colour artist.

The AoR special has 3 shorter stories within it; “Maz’s Scoundrels” which was written by Tom Taylor, with Matteo Buffagni as artist and Chris O’Halloran as colour artist, “The Bridge” was written by G. Willow Wilson with Elsa Charretier as artist and Nick Filardi as colour artist, while “Robot Resistance” was written by Chris Eliopoulos, with Javier Pina as artist and Guru eFX as the colour artist.

Finn was the first heroes comic released, in July 2019, with the last being Rey’s, released September 2019, the trade paperback was released November 2019 and the hardcover featuring both heroes & villains was released September 2020.

Check out the last episode of SWCIC for the volume of Doctor Aphra comics called Worse Among Equals! Aphra and Triple-Zero are on the run with explosives in their necks while Dr Cornelius Evazan records their every move, featuring imperial propaganda, force-wielding corpses and the monster hunting couple Nokk & Winloss!
