Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 56: Stories Of Resistance Heroes Before The Sequel Trilogy (Age Of Resistance Heroes)

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike tackles the one-shot comics from the era of the sequel trilogy; the Age Of Resistance! This episode features bios & stories about Finn, Rose Tico, Poe Dameron, Rey, Amilyn Holdo, Maz Kanata and BB-8, who each have their own comics that Mike goes through, along with the many connections to other SW media!

These stories are all set between 28-34 ABY (a bit before the sequel trilogy, bar Rey’s story).

Please note this episode was originally released in May of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

Finn, Poe, Rose & Rey’s stories were all written by Tom Taylor, with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Guru eFX as colour artist.

The AoR special has 3 shorter stories within it; “Maz’s Scoundrels” which was written by Tom Taylor, with Matteo Buffagni as artist and Chris O’Halloran as colour artist, “The Bridge” was written by G. Willow Wilson with Elsa Charretier as artist and Nick Filardi as colour artist, while “Robot Resistance” was written by Chris Eliopoulos, with Javier Pina as artist and Guru eFX as the colour artist.

Finn was the first heroes comic released, in July 2019, with the last being Rey’s, released September 2019, the trade paperback was released November 2019 and the hardcover featuring both heroes & villains was released September 2020.

Check out the last episode of SWCIC for the volume of Doctor Aphra comics called Worse Among Equals! Aphra and Triple-Zero are on the run with explosives in their necks while Dr Cornelius Evazan records their every move, featuring imperial propaganda, force-wielding corpses and the monster hunting couple Nokk & Winloss!

#75 Pt 2 – Star Wars Sequel Discussion: Episode IX Speculation With 20th Century Geek, Comics In Motion & VHS Strikes Back

For Genuine Chit-Chat’s 2-parter 75th episode, Mike is joined by Scott of the 20th Century Geek podcast and Chris & Dave from the Comics In Motion & VHS Strikes Back podcasts for a collaborative special for the build up to The Rise Of Skywalker. An in-depth look at A New Hope can be found on both Comics In Motion & VHS Strikes Back’s feeds while our collective thoughts on the original & prequel trilogies will both be on 20th Century Geek’s feed in the coming days.

This week, part 2 brings the guys speculating on what they believe is to come in Episode IX including “Bendemption” (if Kylo Ren will return to the light), how Palpatine will be involved, what will happen to Leia, Rey and much more! As well as speculation they talk about what they hope to find in the movie, how they think it’ll compare to the previous movies both in and out of the sequel trilogy, lightsaber battles, crazy theories and enough laughs to shake the hair off a bantha!
