#73 Pt 2 – Doing Yoga With Yoda: Singing Hymns, Talking Movies & Oversharing On Social Media With Megan Gritti

This week Mike is once again joined by his girlfriend Megan Gritti for a chilled out discussion about a many great things including movies, how they met, childhood, religion and much more!

In the second part of their chat, Mike & Megan reminisce about hymns, including one called “The Harvest Song” from their time in Catholicism (Megan’s Italian family and Mike’s primary school), memories from pre-school, a quick talk on bees & honey farms, before discussing the movie Joker (with no spoilers mentioned) as well as Warwick Davis in Star Wars and after mentioning The Shining they talk about horror films including The Ritual & IT Chapter Two (also with no spoilers). Mike & Megan then talk about how they met, their thoughts on oversharing relationships on social media, what meeting people in clubs is like as well as online dating and much more!

In part 1 of their chat, they spoke about their new pet tortoise Wickette (female version of the ewok name Wicket from Star Wars) before discussing their new coffee machine and the recent love of espresso after a trip to Italy to see Megan’s family, before they discuss Spongebob Squarepants and other kids TV shows which links onto Megan’s job as a teacher of 11-16 year olds. “Tattoos: Skin Art Is No Big Deal” – GCC #21 Part 1 – Piercings, Screamo/Sung Vocals & Being In Various Metal Bands w/ Ryan Payne

This week, Mike talks to Ryan Payne, a musician who has been in numerous alternative bands as a guitarist and a vocalist, who Mike has known since school!

In part 1 of their chat, they discuss tattoos, the stigma surrounding them, the pain of a long session and what tattoos they both have & want to get. Following this, they talk about superhero movies, “guilty pleasures” in music, piercings & face tattoos, the difference in vocal styles and what “unclean” vocals actually are and what being in different bands over the years has been like for Ryan, including reminiscing of the good, and not-so-good times!

Part 2 will be out next week, where they discuss some of the difficulties around being in a band, fluking their way through their passions, writing music, plagiarism and how Ryan unintentionally wrote & released a very similar-sounding song to a big alternative band. They also discuss Spotify and owning CDs, as well as the state of modern music (including the likes of Drake & Post Malone)!
