THE JEDI’S GREATEST FEARS ARE REALISED WHEN THEY ARE TRAPPED WITH NAMELESS BEINGS, AS TOLD BY TY YORRICK! Ep 133’s focus is a story that crosses Phase 1 & 2 of The High Republic; The Nameless Terror! The main story takes place in phase 2 of THR, around the time of Cataclysm and the framing story shows the return of saber-for-hire/monster hunter Ty Yorrick! Tune in to hear who survives the encounter with these deadly beasts, plus Mike provides extra information along the way about the Path Of The Open Hand, Acklay and more!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in July 2023.

The Nameless Terror was written by George Mann with artwork by Eduardo Mello and colours by Ornella Savarese. Issue 1 was released February 22nd 2023, issue 4 was released May 17th 2023 and the trade paperback is due for release August 29th 2023.

Ty Yorrick’s origin story can be read in Monster Of Temple Peak, which Mike delved into on ep 87.

The first volume of phase 2 Marvel comics were tackled in episode 126 (out May 13th 2023) and the first vol of High Republic Adventures comic (Dark Horse) were released in ep 132 (7th July).

Tales From The Rancor Pit: Ty Yorrick Fights A Xunji, Haunted Droids Attack, A Wampa Fights Dragon Slugs & the Hassarian Storyteller – Ep 118

A HASSARIAN BEGS JABBA FOR HIS LIFE BY TELLING 3 SPOOKY STORIES! For ep 118, Mike delves into the latest of Cavan Scott’s horror comics; Tales From The Rancor Pit, where 3 horror stories from across the Star Wars galaxy are recounted to the gangster Jabba The Hutt! One features haunted droids during the Clone Wars, the second features monster hunter Ty Yorrick during the High Republic era and the last features Han Solo, Leia & Chewbacca dealing with local creatures on Hoth, set shortly before the Empire attack! Mike also gives information on Hassarians, Cereans, Wampas, LEP droids and more!

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in January 2023.

Tales From The Rancor Pit was released in full on November 23rd 2022 and was written by Cavan Scott. Nick Brokenshire did the artwork & colouring for the framing story, which is set between Empire Strikes Back & Return Of The Jedi. Ghosts Of The Machine’s artwork & colours were done by Juan Samu, with the story set during the Clone Wars (22-19BBY), Undead or Alive is set during the High Republic Era (before Light Of The Jedi) and has artwork by Andy Duggan with colours by Roman Stevens, and In The Lair of The Dragon Slug is set just before Empire Strikes ack (3ABY) and has art by Rafael Pérez and colours by DJ Chavis.

Mike tackled Cavan Scott’s 3 other anthology horror comics; Tales of Vader’s Castle, in episodes 76, 103 & 112 of SWCIC. Mike tackled the Mace Windu mini-series in episode 16 of SWCIC and the Ty Yorrick mini-series The Monster Of Temple Peak was in episode 87.

Mike spoke with Cavan Scott in April 2022 which can be found on this very feed or on YouTube, which has their conversation with video!

In ep 117, Mike delved into the 5 issues of Doctor Aphra set after Crimson Reign, featuring the Spark Eternal possessing Aphra, trapping her inside her own memories with no one to speak with aside from a long-dead Chadra-Fan. Meanwhile, Sana Starros puts a crew together to find Aphra while Just Lucky is hotly in pursuit! As well as this plot, Mike provides further information on Cortosis, the Mairan species, the Droid Crush and more!

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ty Yorrick’s Origin Story & The Dark-Sider Temple, Plus Tholothians, Gundarks and The Rising Storm (The Monster Of Temple Peak) – Ep 87

TY TORRICK’S MYSTERIOUS PAST IS REVEALED! Mike starts this episode with a brief bio on Ty Yorrick, where the Monster Of Temple Peak comics sit in The High Republic and what Tholothians (Ty’s species) are before he delves into the plot of issue 1. As well as going through the plot of these 4 issues, Mike provides information on various species (including Gundarks, Segredos & more), various planets and other connections to the rest of the SW universe – this episode is a must-listen for any fans of The High Republic book The Rising Storm!

These High Republic comics are set in 231BBY, in the first phase & second wave of the High Republic; after Light Of The Jedi but before The Rising Storm.

The Monster Of Temple Peak 1 was released 11th August 2021, issue 4 was released November 17th 2021 and the trade paperback collection is to be confirmed. Cavan Scott is the writer of these comics, with Rachael Stott as artist (& cover artist) with Vita Efrenova & Nicola Righi as colour artists.

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in February 2022. Mike tackled the first volume of High Republic comics (by Cavan Scott) in episode 84 of SWCIC and the first volume of HR Adventures comics (by Daniel José Older) in episode 86 of SWCIC.

Sar Wars: Comics In Canon – THR: The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott, Review & Overview – Nihil Attack The Republic Fair On Valo, Plus Ty Yorrick, Elzar Mann & The Tempest Runner – The High Republic (Phase 1, Wave 2)

This episode, Mike is doing another spoiler-free book review & plot overview from the High Republic’s second wave; The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott – the “main adult” novel with a huge amount of characters, major plot points and shocking moments!

In more detail, in the first half, Mike gives a information on the other releases for The High Republic (the first two waves within Phase 1), gives some background/plot information on the book and then delves into his spoiler-free review; providing information from the blurb, the themes, how it continues from Light Of The Jedi, what he enjoyed about it, which characters have returned and details found within the first few pages. Mike then reads out the blurb & crawl before providing more details on the characters and their general journeys/thoughts, the state of the Republic at the start of this book, the wider themes and how they impact story elements, as well as how it fits in with other High Republic material, which all falls into light-spoiler territory. He then talks about “connected content”, primarily the tie-in High Republic comics and gives a mini-review of the Tempest Runner audio drama before giving plenty of warning and delving into his more detailed review, which still doesn’t fully spoil the book but it does mention some plot details right at the very end, so you can listen to as little or as much info about The Rising Storm before picking it up yourself.

The Rising Storm is the adult novel of the second wave of the High Republic’s first phase along with Out Of The Shadows and Race To Crashpoint Tower, while Wave 3 (out 2022) includes The Fallen Star, Mission To Disaster and Midnight Horizon.

From the first wave of phase 1 is Light Of The Jedi, A Test Of Courage & Into The Dark, which Mike has reviewed on this show in 2021; LotJ was March, AToC was August and ItD was October.
