Star Wars: Phasma by Delilah S Dawson; Book Review, Plot Summary & Character Bio, Plus Who Killed Brendol Hux? And The First Order & Resistance Before The Force Awakens

The first book review of 2024 has landed! Mike reviews Phasma by Delilah S Dawson, giving his spoiler-free thoughts on the book and related characters, plus confirming what other Phasma content people can consume to enjoy the character even more, before he gives his full spoiler-filled thoughts! In his spoiler-filled thoughts he talks about themes, specific characters, impact on the canon and gives a plot overview for anyone who hasn’t read the book.

Phasma was written by Delilah S Dawson and was released September 1st 2017 and in-universe the novel’s framing story takes place at 34ABY while the majority of the flashback story is in 24ABY.

Mike delved into the Captain Phasma comic mini-series (explaining how she survived The Force Awakens) back in episode 5 of Star Wars: Comics In Canon and delved into her Age Of Resistance one-shot in ep 52.

Mike also reviewed Delilah S Dawson’s other Star Wars novel; Inquisitor: Rise Of The Red Blade in October 2023.

Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 52: Kylo Ren Goes To Dagobah, Fights A Zillo Beast & Gets Marooned With Hux (Age Of Resistance Villains)

In this episode, Mike tackles the four one-shot Age Of Resistance Villain comics, all set before The Force Awakens, 3 of which feature Kylo Ren! Phasma leads an army in “Fallen Guns”, General Hux & Kylo Ren are stranded together in “Marooned”, Snoke takes Ren to the Dagobah cave in “Fail. Or Kill It” and in “Out Of The Shadow” Kylo Ren faces against a Zillo beast which Vader couldn’t defeat. Plus Mike gives additional information about each of the four villains!

These stories are all set between 28-34 ABY (before the sequel trilogy).

Please note this episode was originally released in April of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

All issues were written by Tom Taylor, with Leonard Kirk as penciller, Cory Hamscher as inker and Guru eFX as colour artist.

Phasma was the first villains comic released, in July 2019, with Kylo Ren’s being released September 2019, the trade paperback was released December 2019 and the hardcover featuring both heroes & villains was released September 2020. Star Wars: Comics In Canon – Ep 5: Captain Phasma’s History, Armour & Starkiller Base

In this episode of Star Wars: Comics In Canon, Mike delves into the Captain Phasma mini-series, confirming how she escaped the garbage chute in Force Awakens followed by her ruthless journey afterwards! Mike also explains some of her history, what her armour is made from as well as some facts about Starkiller Base, General Hux & more! 

Captain Phasma is written by Kelly Thompson with Marco Checchetto as the artist and Andres Mossa as the colourist. Issue #1 released in September 2017 and issue #4 was released in October 2017 – the mini-series is part of the “Journey To The Last Jedi” line of comics & books released. The Phasma book mentioned (also part of Journey To Last Jedi) was written by Delilah S. Dawson and was also released in September 2017.
