Nada Maktari; poster illustrator, cosplayer and architecture student [also known as the ‘Star(Wars)chitect’] joins us for ep 205, to talk about what studying architecture entails, how she has made her amazing posters & cosplay, her love of Star Wars and more!

In more detail, Nada & Mike discuss how they “crossed paths” at Star Wars Celebration London 2023 and how Nada met Temuera Morrison (Jango/Boba Fett), the duo then discuss their favourite Star Wars movies before delving into the posters Nada has made for a variety of movies. Nada then talks about why she started studying architecture at university and what studying architecture actually entails, how that impacted her poster creation, how geometry is key for her work and more. Towards the end, Mike & Nada talk about Nada’s cosplay and how & why she started cosplaying, plus going to filmed locations and more! This conversation is an all-rounder for all ages, as a variety of topics are covered but the conversation is suitable for all ages!

#175 Pt 2 – How Art Reflects Headspace: Humanity & Nature, Sexuality In Art And Being A Generalist With Elise McCall

Painter, illustrator, comic book artist & expressionist Elise McCall is our returning guest this week, talking about her creative process, inspiration, her many different pieces of art and so much more!

This week is part 2 where Mike & Elise delve deeper into Elise’s artwork shown on her website, including some specific pieces of artwork and how the times in Elise’s life have affected the art she creates, along with Mike’s interpretations of them. The duo then delve into the difference of being a human and being a person; intertwining life with nature, how sexuality is present in Elise’s artwork, what artwork isn’t on her website and why. They also discuss putting work out into the world, podcasts during COVID and the pros & cons of being a generalist.

If you missed it, last week was part 1 of Mike & Elise’s conversation which begins with Elise’s childhood and how it helped develop her love of artistic expression before discussing collaborations and how character creation can work for new projects. Elise then talk about her methods for new projects and in what ways she prefers creating hand-drawn to digital artwork and her joy of painting.
